"Oozora," which offers an extensive view of the mountains from the heights, is the hotel’s vaunted panoramic open-air bath. At night, guests can enjoy the view of the starry night sky, which also reflects on the surface of the water. Forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and, with the rippling of the stream in the background, allow yourself to completely relax. The water of Yugawara hot-springs is slightly alkaline. It moisturizes the skin and is perfect for repeated baths. Considered a medicinal bath since ancient times, it has attracted countless visitors through the ages.
Guests can also enjoying bathing in our large communal bath, characterized by the greenery and the calm atmosphere of the small garden, while listening to the gentle sounds of the birds and plants. Yugawara hot springs were given to the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period and, during the Meiji period, they became well-known and a favorite place for great writers, such as Soseki Natsume, Toson Shimazaki and Ryunosuke Akutagawa. One can appreciate the depth of the history of Yugawara hot-springs in the fact that they are the only hot-springs mentioned in the "Man'yoshu," the oldest collection of Japanese poems.
